World famous Yosemite National Park is truly a must see place at least once in one's life. Yosemite majestic beauty is lead by some of the most spectacular water falls in the world. You can hike to waterfalls, Yosemite Falls is the fifth tallest waterfall in the world (its overwhelming during the springtime when the snowmelts). There's Giant Sequoias, Glacier point and Badger Pass. Haft Dome, El Capitan, Cathedral Rocks, all offer spectacular vistas. The heart of it all is Yosemite Valley, since most of Yosemite is designated as wilderness, Yosemite Valley is the place to be. John Muir Trail and the Ansel Adams museums and other cultural attraction of the ancient Indian heritage of the Yosemite Valley. Countless wildlife like bears, dear, coyotes, birds, etc. Make sure you heeded the Yosemite Park Rangers when they tell you not to leave food overnight in your car. The bears have extremely powerful sense of smell, and will rip the window off your car to get to your food at night!
Spending the night at Yosemite can get complicated. Yosemite lodging (different from camping) will take reservations up to a year and one day in advance. Which means you better plan your exact vacation days very much in advance or try something different. The something different is usually camping or staying overnight in the closest city. Camping can be in designated camp sites which also have reservations, but not as extended in advance as Yosemite lodging (but still popular). There is also wilderness camping which requires a wilderness permit. Wilderness camping means you have to camp in the wilderness, at least 4 miles from any populated area and 1 mile from any road. Some people knowing there going to spend the next several days camping chose to start it off with a restful night in a Sonora Motel or Hotel.
