When visiting a large United States City there usually is a clear difference between the term “Hotel” and “Motel.” But in the small city of Sonora “Hotel” and “Motel” can mean different things. First of all you wont find a definitive Marriott or Hilton type of hotel. Also a Sonora lodging establishment with the name “Hotel” probably means its an 1800s hotel that's been renovated, two stories tall, about ten rooms and family owned. While on the other hand a “Motel” in Sonora can very well be a modern building with 60 plus rooms and corporately owned. So know what your accommodations desires are and don't judge a Sonora Lodging establishment purely on the name.
